The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District was awarded the National Gold Medal Award at the National Recreation & Parks Association Congress in Seattle this week.  The National Gold Medal Award honors the nation’s outstanding park and recreation agencies.  The program gives national recognition to communities for excellence in long range planning, fiscal resource management, citizen support systems, environmental stewardship, preservation, technological integration, program planning and assessment, professional development, agency recognition, and services for special populations. The National Gold Medal is the most celebrated park and recreation award in the country and the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District is honored to have been selected as the 2006 winner.

The National Gold Medal Award is possible only through the dedication and hard work of nearly 700 full and part time employees.  Every employee at every level makes a valuable contribution to the success of the park district and all should be very proud to be a part of this award winning team. Congratulations to the Board of Commissioners, every employee, and the citizens who reap the rewards of the fabulous work done at this great district.
