Park Donations

Each year the H-F Park District receives more than 150 requests for donations from non-profit organizations and individuals. Requests are reviewed and decisions are made weekly by a team of administrators. Although all causes are worthy of consideration, the park district — being a taxing body — must take into consideration its role of being a good steward of taxpayer dollars. With that in mind, the district tries to donate services to local organizations. The Park District does not make any financial contributions to any organization or charity.

Donation requests should be submitted in writing to the H-F PD at:

Goldberg Center
3301 Flossmoor Road
Flossmoor, IL 60422
Attn: Administrative Assistant.

Please allow at least one month for the review of your request.

Memorials – a service of the H-F Park District

Gifts to the H-F Park District make the district what it is today. Some of the large and unique gifts to the Park District include Richard D. Irwin Park, Marie Irwin Community Center, Gretchen Goldberg Memorial Park and the Goldberg Center.

Large or small, there are many ways individuals can play a role in the future of our community. A gift that seems small this moment can have a major impact in the future. A young tree, for example, has lasting value. A piece of equipment for a recreation program can make a difference in a child’s life. There’s even opportunities to sponsor parks equipment such as benches, picnic tables and drinking fountains.

H-F Park District has initiated a donation program for benefactors to plant trees or purchase equipment to honor or memorialize a friend, family member, teacher or coach. Trees and equipment are a permanent, caring tribute to not only another person, but to the entire community.

TREES
The beauty and comfort of trees can translate into a meaningful “thank you.” As weather, disease and time have damaging effects on local trees, H-F Park District developed a tree donation program to enhance our community’s tree supply. This gift provides the community with a gift of nature that will benefit the area for years to come. The donation is publicly recorded by the placement of an engraved plate on a plaque at the District’s Administration Center.

$300 donation:  These trees have a trunk diameter of 3 in.:
Ash, Flowering Crabapple, Linden & Maple

$350 donation:  These trees are 7-to-8 ft. tall:
Pine & Spruce

Donors may also purchase a commemorative plaque honoring the memory of a loved one. This small plaque is placed at the tree’s base and identifies the loved one and the donor’s name. There is an additional fee for this service. Once the tree is ordered, the donor is notified of the planting date and time, if they wish to attend. The Park District also takes a photo of each donated tree, placing it in a memorial book kept at the Administration Center.

PARK EQUIPMENT
Another way to say “thank you” is through the purchase of parks equipment. Donation options include: benches, bicycle racks, drinking fountains, picnic shelters,  picnic tables, player benches for sporting fields, and playground equipment. Donation fees vary depending upon selection. Commemorative plaques are also available for parks equipment donations.
