The H-F Ice Arena wants you to be able to try the sport of hockey without having to make a hefty equipment investment. Rental Hockey Equipment is available for our Hockey Development participants!
Cost is $25/session for the full set of equipment. Availability is limited and is offered first come, first served.

Using USA Hockey instructional techniques, skaters will see improvement and have fun doing it. Our program philosophy is to create a fun environment for skaters of all levels to build skills and excel while learning one of the best games ever played. Our Hockey Development classes are for boys and girls who want to skate recreationally or who want to work their way up to play Viking House League Hockey.

BRONZE HOCKEY
Skaters will learn skating fundaments at their own pace. Balance and confidence, proper hockey position, turning, and starting and stopping techniques will be emphasized.
Age: 4 years & up
Prerequisite: Learn to Skate class completed or ability to be on the ice unassisted.
Equipment required: Hockey skates, stick, elbow pads, helmet, shin pads and gloves, but all pieces are recommended.
SILVER HOCKEY
Continued emphasis on skating techniques and skills. Puck control and puck handling skills will be taught; skating and turning with the puck, making and receiving passes, dribbling the puck laterally, side to side and diagonally.
Age: 5 years & up
Prerequisite: Bronze level completion, 1+ years skating experience, or instructor recommendation.
Equipment required: All pieces of equipment.
GOLD HOCKEY (Spring & Summer Session only)
Skaters will continue working on advanced skating skills. Puck handling, puck control and game skills and techniques will be practiced. In addition to class, skaters will participate in a 45-minute scrimmage each week.
Age: 6 years & up
Equipment required: All pieces of equipment
Prerequisite: Silver level completion, 2+ years skating experience or instructor recommendation.
GIRLS ONLY! GET IN THE GAME HOCKEY CLINIC
Same great game, but no boys allowed! Learn basic hockey skills from a female instructor! Balance and confidence, proper hockey position, turning, and starting and stopping techniques will be emphasized. Directed towards beginner and intermediate skaters.
Age: 6 years & up
Equipment required: Hockey skates, stick, elbow pads, helmet, shin pads and gloves, but all pieces are recommended.
Prerequisite: Learn to Skate class completed or ability to be on the ice unassisted.
HOCKEY SPECIALTY CLASSES
During the summer, hockey classes — such as stick handling and power skates — are offered. These classes are geared toward the more experienced skater who has completed the silver hockey class or above.
