Park Rules

  • H-F Park District’s parks are open from dawn to dusk.

  • Dogs must be on a leash no longer than eight feet and the pet owner must clean up after the pet.

  • Alcohol is not allowed in the parks.

  • Use motor vehicles in designated roadways and parking lots.

  • Barbeque only in designated areas.

  • No golf is allowed in the parks.
Feeding Ducks & Geese:
The Parks Division strongly discourages the feeding of area waterfowl. Because food supplied by people is easy for the birds to obtain, ducks and geese lose their natural migrating instincts. This leads to overpopulation, making creatures more susceptible to disease and predators. Please allow them to find their own sources of food.

Fishing Regulations:
All persons fishing on Park District property must possess both a State of Illinois fishing license (unless exempt under state laws) and a H-F Park District fishing permit. Permits can be purchased at the Goldberg Administration Center for $5 resident/$15 non-resident. Fishing limits are:
  • Large-mouth bass – Catch and release only
  • Walleye – 18” minimum size limit, two fish limit/day
  • Trout – Three fish limit/day
  • Bluegill – 6” minimum size limit, 10 fish limit/day

Dolphin Lake Precautions:
Swimming and ice skating are never allowed at Dolphin Lake! Dolphin Lake’s constant undercurrent is dangerous, regardless of the season. Conditions are never safe for swimming or ice skating.

Dogs In Parks:
In general, dogs are allowed in H-F Park District’s parks. Dogs must be on a 8-foot leash, and owners must clean up after their pet. Dogs are not allowed at outdoor Park District special events such as Starry Nights Concerts and the Fine Arts Fair.

Vandalism in Your Parks

Homewood-Flossmoor Park District’s parks are your parks! Please stay alert for signs and sounds of vandalism in your local park.

If you see someone vandalizing your park, athletic fields, or playground equipment, please call the police immediately. If you notice park property or playground equipment that is broken or has been vandalized, please call the Parks Department at 957-0280 and we will take care of the situation.

For the community's sake, report vandalism when you see it. You will be helping reduce needless destruction of Park District property and, at the same time, putting your money to work where it is needed.
