WILLOWS: Age 2
Children in the Willows classroom are introduced to group play and are encouraged to have positive social interactions. The teachers provide a nurturing environment to help ease student fears and cope with separation anxiety. Fine motor skills are developed through play and exploration of a variety of materials. Students are engaged in hands-on activities that allow them to actively explore the world around them. Gross-motor skills are developed through indoor and outdoor activities. Children must be age 2 by Sept. 1, 2012.
GINKGOS: Age 3
Ginkgos will learn to play with others and participate in group activities. Each day students participate in calendar, weather, music and story time. Independence is encouraged through practice of self help skills. Shapes, colors, numbers and letters are introduced through rhyme and music. Fine motor activities such as cutting, coloring, and writing are also introduced. Children must be age 3 by Sept. 1, 2012, and they must be potty trained.
OAKS: Ages 4 & 5
Students in the oaks classroom are encouraged to develop social, intellectual, physical and emotional. Teachers will encourage positive social interactions and help your child express himself through music, art and creative play. Students develop kindergarten readiness skills such as name writing, letter and sound recognition and memorization of address and phone numbers. Your child will participate in science, math, language and kindergarten readiness skills. Your child will also have the opportunity to participate in cooking activities, computers and attend fieldtrips. Gross motor activities are developed indoors and outdoors, including walks to Irwin Park! Children must be age 4 by Sept. 1, 2012 and be potty trained.
The fun and learning continues in our afternoon extended day program. Through rhymes, finger plays, games and songs students will build early literacy and math skills. The afternoon enrichment program will also have some special “fun days” and parent child activity days. Children must be enrolled in the Ginkgos or Oaks morning program. Children must also bring a brown bag lunch daily. Registration taken in person for this class.
